EXTRAORDINARY KENYA CAMPING SAFARI
The only way to truly experience the magic of Kenya is by going on a camping safari. We wanted to experience this moment to the fullest, so we decided to camp in the bush. On our first day we explored the city of Nairobi by a guided tour. We then drove to the Kenyan and Tanzanian border to our campsite in Amboseli National Park. We had a late lunch, drove around exploring, and then returned to our campsite. We then had supper by the fire and rested up for day two.
On day two, we awoke to some of the most magnificent vistas we have ever seen. We enjoyed seeing Mount Kilimanjaro and all the existing wildlife in the area. We stopped at a shady spot and had a picnic. We then returned to camp and as we sat around the fire, we heard the roar of the king of the jungle. We could also hear hyenas laughing and whooping far away. They sky was clear and full of a million stars.
We went to Lake Nakura. There were so many flamingos that I couldn’t count them. This area has many birds here. Next we went to Lake Bogoria, also known as The Jewel of the Great Rift Valley. This lake had hot sulfur water that came up from the ground. We traveled to Lake Baringo, the home of the Njemps tribe. Their tribe eats fish, which most other tribes consider taboo. The Njemps were very friendly and interesting people.
I am also going to tell you about our other camping safari we took in Biribriet. This Kenya safari has been called the haven for nature addicts. It is the best off the beaten track safari in Kenya, Africa. Kenya has a mixture of desert, coastal, and mountain terrain. One of my most enjoyable moments was seeing the scenic waterfalls and rivers deep in the Nambi.
We made camp near Eldoret for the night. We could hear many frogs near the river. We decided to walk to the river and see them. Our guide said that they come out at night and this was the best time to see them. There we saw reed frogs, tiny water frogs, and big grass frogs. The next morning when I walked back to the river, there weren’t any frogs to be seen. Next on our agenda was a walk to Chepkiit Waterfall. Here we saw harrier hawks and horn bills.
A Kenya camping safari is the only way to see Africa as it should be seen. You are separated from this vast array of nature by only the clothes you are wearing. You get to experience how the African tribes have lived for so many centuries. This Kenya safari was the most remarkable journey I have experienced in my life.
